About Bharat Drone Skill Mission
National Initiative for Drone tech Awareness, Drone Skill Development and Future Pilot Workforce Creation.
Bharat Drone Skill Mission (BDSM) is a national initiative dedicated to building a future-ready workforce in drones, robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), autonomous systems, defence technologies and unmanned systems. The Mission aims to empower students, youth, professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, practical skills and industry exposure required to participate in India’s rapidly advancing technology and national security ecosystem.
The Mission seeks to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and skilled human resources through experiential learning, hands-on training, technology demonstrations, certification, industry interaction and career-oriented skill development.
From schools and educational institutions to advanced industry, defence and Armed Forces-oriented programmes, Bharat Drone Skill Mission will create structured pathways for learners to discover, understand and develop capabilities in drone technology, autonomous systems, robotics, AI, counter-drone technologies and other emerging unmanned systems.
The Mission will bring together industry, academia, technology companies, training institutions, defence organisations, Armed Forces, government agencies and other ecosystem stakeholders to create opportunities for learning, innovation, employment, entrepreneurship and technology-led national capability development.
Through its programmes, the Bharat Drone Skill Mission seeks to nurture a generation of technology-ready, skilled and innovative professionals capable of contributing to India’s growing drone, robotics, AI, defence and unmanned technology ecosystem and supporting the nation’s journey towards a self-reliant and developed India.

National Impact
Bharat Drone Skill Mission (BDSM) is envisioned as a national skilling initiative to create a large, future-ready workforce for India’s rapidly expanding drone, robotics, AI and unmanned technology ecosystem. India’s policy framework recognises drones as a major enabler across agriculture, infrastructure, mapping, surveillance, emergency response, defence and other sectors, with significant potential for employment and economic growth.
The Mission will go beyond pilot training by developing skills across the complete drone value chain, including operation, maintenance, assembly, manufacturing, data processing, GIS, analytics, inspection and sector-specific applications. Government skilling programmes have similarly identified roles such as drone software development, manufacturing and assembly, maintenance, operations and service technicians.
